‘Pets in the Park’: A Whiskerful Day of Fun and Community

by | Oct 9, 2024

Welcome to “Pets in the Park” – Danbury’s eagerly anticipated annual day of furry fun and community spirit! Set to unfold in the picturesque Candlewood Town Park, right across from the Danbury PAL Building, this cherished event invites pet owners and animal enthusiasts alike to mark their calendars for Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. With a rain date scheduled for Sunday, October 20th, the event promises a packed schedule of shopping, demonstrations, animal rescues, adoptions, and loads more, amidst the breathtaking autumnal backdrop of Danbury, CT.

This year’s “Pets in the Park” encourages attendees to bring their four-legged friends along (keeping them safely on a leash or in a carrier, of course) for a day brimming with engaging activities. The event’s highlight, a must-see Parade of Pets Costume Contest, is set for 3:00 pm. It’s not just an opportunity for your pet to strut their stuff in their Halloween best but also a chance to win some amazing prizes! With free entrance for children under 12 and a mere $3.00 entry fee for those 12 and older, coupled with free parking, the event stands as a perfect fall day out for families, pet lovers, and anyone looking to soak in the local community vibes.

But that’s not all! Besides the eagerly anticipated Parade of Pets Costume Contest, attendees can also look forward to a touching Animal Blessing Ceremony, to be conducted by Pastor Kriss from the First Congregational Church Of Danbury at 2:00 pm. This special ceremony offers a moment of gratitude and blessing for your furry, scaly, or feathered friends. Moreover, with an array of food vendors like Jesse’s Ice Cream and Streetside Hot Dogs ready to serve up treats for both humans and pets, plus activities like free face painting by Happy Cheeks, there’s something at the event for everyone to relish.

Funds raised from the modest entry fees will go directly to supporting a local animal rescue, highlighting the event’s underlying purpose: love and care for all creatures great and small. Whether you’re aiming to participate in the costume contest, have your pet blessed, explore the various goods and services offered by local vendors, or simply enjoy a day out with your pet, “Pets in the Park” promises a memorable day of fun, community, and celebration of our beloved animal companions.
